 Lewiston FamerS' MArket ASSOCIATION (LFMA)
BOARD OF DIRECTORS

In 2021, the Lewiston Farmers' Market re-incorporated as the state-non profit, Lewiston Farmers’ Market Association (LFMA), and convened a robust multi-stakeholder Board of Directors made up of vendor and community members. We are incredibly grateful to all the time and energy our Board contributes to helping to grow and operate a robust farmers' market for greater Lewiston-Auburn.

Ben Daley (Secretary)

Picture
Ben Daley is the owner and operator of Chirp Creek Farm in Lisbon. He has experience working on a large number of veggie farms as well as a couple of dairies. He moved to Maine in 2018 when his family bought land in Lisbon (The Packard-Littlefield Farm) and started Chirp Creek Farm the following year. The Lewiston Farmers Market was Chirp Creek Farm's first big break in accessing a market, and it's been very nice to be able to grow alongside the market. He's been working with the LFMA as part of the steering committee and in various capacities since he joined in 2019. In addition to working with the Lewiston Farmers Market, he's been involved as a board member of the Lewiston Auburn Community Market (to be developed soon!) and other farmers' markets as well. It's been great to be able to grow and sell certified organic veggies every week in Lewiston, a City that is near and dear to his heart.

Throughout that time she has played a consistent leadership role on market steering comittees, the market set up and break down team and now the Board of Directors. What Deb loves most about the Lewiston Farmers' Market is all the vendors. She has been in many other markets and never has she experienced the fellowship and thoughtfulness that she does with the LFM. Deb is a retired Bible study teach to first graders and which she thoroughly enjoyed for 10 years. These days, she tries to spend as much time as she can with her 5 grandchildren.

 Glenn Stevens Shrouds (CHaIr)

Picture
Glenn was born, raised and spent most of his life on the Ohio River Valley in the southern tip of Indiana. He grew up on a dairy farm and was the youngest of four kids, but when he turned 18 his parents sold the herd. He’s done many things in his life including construction and ministry, but farming’s deep in his veins and came back to it even after he said he’d never milk again. Glenn and his family started sustainable agricultural practices in Indiana, but since it was a big ag state, they found themselves running into the ground. They tried selling through CSA’s, Farmer’s Markets, and on the farm, but when they moved from selling just vegetables and meat to try to do dairy as well, they realized it would be nearly impossible to do that there. So in the fall of 2018, they found a farm and moved 1200 miles to near Bowdoinham Maine where they established a dairy and were soon licensed to make cheese. Glenn spent most of his life sharing his skills with others and using his knowledge to benefit them and not just himself. This is something he’s actively and constantly working on whether it be for large groups of people or just a couple who asked a simple question.
